Hi, I’m Ryan.

I started Rove because I kept meeting people doing extraordinary things that almost nobody saw.

I’ve watched a missions team spend thirty years quietly loving people in Cambodia. I’ve sat with a Pittsburgh church carrying 130 years of history into whatever comes next. I’ve followed a dad named Scott as he fought cancer, and fought even harder for his daughter.

Stories like theirs stay with me long after the gear is packed up. Making a film is the best way I know to honor them: listen closely, tell it true, and let other people feel what I felt sitting across from them.

To rove is to wander, to go out. That’s most of the job: getting in the car or on the plane, sitting at someone’s kitchen table, and staying long enough that they forget the camera is there.

My faith in Jesus has everything to do with who I am and why I make films: to notice the good God is already doing and help other people see it. I believe every person we film is created in the image of God, and is worthy of love, respect, and honor. So when someone watches their own story, I want them to recognize themselves in it and feel seen the way God sees them.

Our storytelling standard

  1. Everyone on camera gives informed consent and knows where the film will be shown.
  2. We never stage need or use images that strip someone of dignity.
  3. Children and vulnerable people are filmed only with guardian consent and protective care, and identities are hidden when safety requires it.
  4. Our clients approve every cut, and subjects can see their story before release.
  5. We tell the truth, including the hard parts.

Let’s tell your story.
